The natural population decrease amounted to 48,223 people, representing an increase of 9.85%, compared to May 2022.
The birth rate in May 2023 increased by 1.3%, compared to May 2022; the death rate – by 3.9%. Compared to May 2022, infant mortality rate declined by 9.3%.
In the first five months of 2023, 511,722 babies were born; 748,450 people died; 265,359 marriages and 277,410 divorces were registered. The natural population decrease amounted to 236,728 people, representing a 33.3% decline compared to January-May 2022.
In January-May 2023, the death rate declined by 14.8% compared to the same period in 2022; the birth rate – by 2.2%. Compared to January-May 2022, infant mortality rate declined by 12.2%.
